Summary: set after the Gift, coping. 100 words.

He never thought that the only thing to keep him sane when he wanted to howl his despair during that awful summer would be a dance of words with a pale blond dead man.

Blue eyes exposed a mutual self loathing that failure brought. They had both failed her and both lost her. They danced around her name and around each other but not away from that truth.

Back and forth they stepped in rhythm with their grief, releasing their tears as complaints and insults. A brittle verbal thrust and parry to keep them from giving in to the anguish.

since they are both British I figured that the whole stiff upper lip thing would hold them back from mourning properly,
made more sense of the interactions on screen to me
