To sit by his side seems a meaningless gesture, especially in the middle of the House of Commons. Sebastian’s very possibly the only other man in the room who’d give his right arm to sit where I sit, beside him as the thin-faced Phillip berates him in his speech.
Much as it saddens me, it’s all good in the long run, for the leader of the Opposition speaks faster when he’s annoyed. And the faster he speaks, the sooner Michael will stand again to reply.
And, sitting behind where the PM stands, I’ll get the best view in the world.
