“Come on, Giles, it should be fun.’

“Fun?  Witnessing a stage magician present fake illusions in the pretence that he’s a master of real magic?  Why not just re-enact a ritual sacrifice or two?  Summon a few live demons, film it for television and broadcast it the name of entertainment?  Some of us might find that amusing.”

Willow grinned.  “You’re just grumpy because you couldn’t get to see Sigfried and Roy when you were in Vegas.  I know this guy doesn’t use white lions, but he’s supposed to be really, really good.  Come on,” she cajoled a second time.  “You’ll love it.  Trying to second guess his tricks.  Figuring how to do it for real.  All the business – and the show – and … stuff.”

Giles raised a knowing eyebrow at her.  “And I suppose the fact that he surrounds himself with innumerable scantily clad girls has nothing to do with why you are so eager to attend?”

She couldn’t quite smother her momentary blush.  “Course not,” she denied, a little too quickly to be believed.  “Andrew took Buffy and Dawn to see him in Rome.  Last month.  Buffy said … well, actually, I didn’t quite understand what she said, but … she did say he was amazing, and she just couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw him on stage.  And then she made me promise to take you, the next time he did a show in London.  So hey -  tickets.  Promise to a Slayer.  Your Slayer.  Whatdya say?”

Giles considered her expression – eager, pleading, and with just a hint of hopeful expectation – and reluctantly acquiesced, just as she knew he would.  “Very well,” he sighed.  “I suppose I could do with an evening off.  But this Adam … Klaus?  He’d better be as entertaining as you suggest …”

Thanks! I suspect there's an entire plot lurking in their somewhere, with Giles being mistaken for Adam, and Jonathan discovering real magic (and not quite being able to cope with the idea!)

Hee! I bet Giles would be critiquing all the way through, while Willow would just sit there gobsmacked, looking from one to the other! Fun.

IIRC, there's a still of ASH as Adam with his left hand forward in a very similar gesture to Giles' "vincire" in Grave. :D
